- DETAILED CONTENT DESCRIPTION (150 words or more):
What is form?
Are we thinking of form or shape of our bodies or are we thinking of the structures that we develop to put our moving into a context? Can we be formless ever?
Looking at another person that is moving or standing still we see a 3 dimensional form/shape that we define in various ways. How we define is depending on the context we find ourselves in. With what do we perceive and how do we define what it is that is happening? Are we looking at minute detail or the larger picture and see the action and what it intends to achieve? What senses are involved? How do we recognize that the form we inhabit is the form we intend to have? Form can be arrived at by different means; somatics, mimesis, deciding on a desired outcome... Form can be something that exists, a syllabus or it can be created for the occasion. Form is maybe not the most important thing going on…..
In this workshop we will be working with ways of creating and finding form and formlessness. Control and loss of control, adopting each other’s material/movements using various methods and techniques that can be classified under co-ordinating, co-operating and collaborating.
We will take time to document as we go along in various media and spend some time discussing the subject.
