First impulse - for a long time He wanted to play music for people who sleep.
Second impulse - We wanted to create a field of creative nourishment.
What nourishes you?
food
sleep
being amazed
sleep
being taken up with something
being with others
rest
sharing and creating a poetic field
dancing
writing
being in a condensed space with others yet without restraint
.....
What nourishes you?
So we started with arriving and we ended with arriving.
Inbetween there was / were
-
a physical warm up along the lines of shaking, grounding and connecting
-
an introduction into automatic writing and how to use text in space
-
an invitation into the open space inspired by the underscore (Nancy Stark Smith)
-
a set of rules like - no socializing in the space
- when you exit write a word you want to leave in the space and put it in a
box
- when you reenter pick one word and play with it if you like
-
objects to play with like a dance floor one could dance on write on sleep on...., strings in the space one could use for divers arrangements, a typewriter located prominently, loads of paper, costumes to play with and write on, strings to interloop or undo...
-
and of course sound, very specific kind of ambient music, voice, text
-
the space
So what was actually happening?
I remember a very condensed time and space, yet spacious and timeless. A commited group of people- commited to each other, commited to what they were doing, commited to the frame we offered.
No time out for the three of us. Highlights in terms of a poetic arrival in the here and now. An atmosphere ranging from being deeply internal to peacefully playing next to and with each other. Through a growing installation of words the individual process became visible in the space.
What do you imagine would happen to you if you were part of "Night Fabric"?
