Hello… What are you doing here?

Months Bleed into New Months

Dear members of the IDOCDE Community,

As months bleed into new months, so we are approaching the weekend of the 2018 IDOCDE Symposium, which is going to be our 6th. The IDOCDE symposium is the annual IDOCDE.net-organised event hosted by the ImPulsTanz Dance Festival at Vienna's Arsenal. The symposium is the opportunity for the IDOCDE community to leave "the confinements" of the virtual and engage with the sense of possibility afforded by the physical, the shared, "the real." The sense of possibility available at the touch of a hand. All this in the warm (often sweaty) surroundings of the summer-time Vienna.

This year's symposium, entitled YOU ARE HERE!, is looking at knowledge at its frailest, at its most delicate; knowledge at the time of articulation, knowledge in the act of articulation itself. This is also knowledge before it's been institutionally approved of, knowledge before it's been celebrated by authority, knowledge that is knowledge because you get to recognise it as such, celebrate it as such.

In order to study knowledge at its most delicate, we've invited more than thirty fellow dance practitioners/teachers who answered our call to generate the content of the symposium as a part of a collaborative effort during a residency week preceeding the symposium. This is done in an attempt to put together a symposium, the content of which is to the largest degree invented, articulated, discovered in-real-time.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank every person who responded to our Call for Proposals. You've responded to the call with impressive readiness and commendable curiosity. This should be regarded an achievement in its own right; an achievement which testifies of your interest to maintain the highest quality of the IDOCDE Symposium possible. Thank you!

Are you thinking of coming to the symposium? Here is our program. There are a number of options regarding payment grades and registration for you to consider. Please check all the specifications here. One option in particular that might be of interest is – The Lottery. The Lottery could win you a free entrance to the symposium! In order to enter The Lottery, please go to the IDOCDE forum topic LOTTERY TO WIN FREE ACCESS TO 2018 IDOCDE SYMPOSIUM (link) and answer the following question: What do you expect from this year’s symposium? (recommended length of answer: short, between 3 and 99 words) Entrance must be done before July 16th. Three winners will be announced shortly thereafter. Good luck!

Stay tuned with the IDOCDE website, IDOCDE Facebook Page, IDOCDE Instagram for updates, news, and lottery results!
